A Beauty Box Review

(I’m Addicted to Beauty Boxes!)

I first discovered this beauty box by reading a review by [Which Beauty Box]. She subscribes to a lot of monthly beauty boxes and reviews them all by products, value for money etc, so if you’re unsure of which beauty box would be best for you to subscribe to I would definitely check her out! (My last blog is a reblog of her Glossybox review so you can find her through there).

I am now subscribed to 2 beauty boxes, the Glossybox by Superdrug (you can see reviews in previous posts) and now I’ve subscribed to the you beauty discovery box. This box is smaller than most beauty boxes but it is only £6.95 per month INCLUDING p&p which is great.

Its also a great box because you can actually have a say in what you want to receive, don’t get me wrong I do love surprises but I do love this option! Each month they post a shortlist of products and you choose two from the list to get in your box, then they usually add a couple of freebies too.

Items To Choose From This Month

£7.99 for 150ml

I’ve heard great things about Urban Veda Products as it is all natural ingredients [ *No SLS *No Parabens *No GM Ingredients] but have always been really wary when trying out new skincare products, but I thought whilst I’m in the midst of altering my facial care routine now would be the perfect time to try it, especially seen as it is the smaller size of 20ml so if it didn’t agree with my skin I wouldn’t be wasted much money or product. As soon as I opened it the smell was delicious! It really is a great product and I will definitely be buying the full size product when this has gone.

Enjoy 15% off all orders at: http://www.urbanveda.com with voucher code: YOU Beauty (valid until 31st July 2014)

Timeless Rose

£9.99 in Superdrug

I chose the L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24h Lip because I am a lip colour whore-der. I’ve slowly been trying to get away from wearing my bright red lip when I go out so I’ve been looking for some other colours that would work well with skin tone/hair colour as I’ve gone to a darker blonde rather than the bleach bombshell look I had before. I love this colour because it’s neutral enough to wear in the day as we’ll as at night, I think this will definitely be a summer BBQ favourite! and it really does last a long time, its even difficult to get off with make up wipes (another reason I went for the more neutral colour) It’s also a full size product so I’m going to get plenty of wear out of it.

This months freebies were an Expandable Pink Face Cloth which comes shaped as a heart which is gorgeous, plus its pink! who doesn’t like pink 🙂 and a face mask from Montagne Jeunesse which is a Dead Sea Mud Spa, I love pampering myself with a good face mask and have used many by this brand, I’ve never found one that didn’t make my skin feel luscious and I’m sure this one won’t be any different.

Lets Talk Nails

Okay So I’m Addicted To Rimmel’s Colours

(Especially The Rita Ora Collection)

I absolutely LOVE to paint my nails and I always have done, I find it really relaxing. At one point in school/college I used to paint my nails fresh every other day, I got so good that my left handed nail painting was jst as good as my right handed painting! but then I started working full time and forgot how to use my left hand eventually (sad Kelly). But even still now I try to do my nails at least once a week and feel great when they’re freshly done.

I’ve actually become addicted to Rimmel London nail polishes, to the point that I go out and buy new colours every pay day, which means I’m slowly getting a brilliant collection! My favourites at the moment are the Rita Ora range #RitaForRimmel (find this on twitter & Instagram)

My Rimmel Collection: -2 :D

My Rimmel Collection: -2 😀

Rita Ora Pastel

I love Rimmel colours because they come in lots of different colours, shades and styles. I originally started collecting the really bold colours but I’m drifting more towards the pastel shades at the moment. These polishes are also great because they are super quick drying even the ones that aren’t in the 60 second collection, the bane of my life has to be smudging nails and having to restart.

My Latest Additions

This Shines a mixture of purple/turquoise in the light, the picture doesn’t do it justice 🙂

I usually get all my polishes (well most of my cosmetics actually) from Superdrug because a) I love getting beautycard points and b) they have a 3 for 2 offer on a lot which means free cosmetics!! … gotta love a good bargain 🙂

Glossybox Review

Glossybox

The Beauty Box For Superdrug

I’ve been seeing quite a few beauty boxes being talked about in the Twitter/Instagram circulation so it had me majorly curious, I opted for the Superdrug beauty box not only because I was recommended by friends but also because I spend at least £40 in Superdrug every payday anyway. So here’s hoping it reduces my cost slightly (it definitely won’t let’s be honest).

Its Arrived!

Its Arrived!

So the Superdrug beauty box: Glossybox can be found at http://www.glossybox.co.uk and there’s different subscription options too! I’ve opted for the £10 per month box mainly because you can pay each month for it and you can cancel at anytime s you can cancel it if you’re having a poor month (we definitely won’t lets be honest). There are other payment options though such as 6 months subscription for £9.50 per month but you pay for all 6 in advance (I’m poor boo!)

Just Look How Cute That Is

Just Look How Cute That Is

I was eagerly awaiting my Glossybox and got super excited when it came 🙂 For the price of it I wasn’t only impressed with the amount of products you get in there but also super impressed with the packaging, it comes in a solid box and it looks all gift wrapped too, I love a personal touch!

This Months Glossybox

This Months Glossybox

In my box I got:

B. Sheer Conditioning Lipstick £6.99

B. Sheer Lipstick

B. Sheer Lipstick

I wasn’t sure about this lipstick at first, I’m normally really committed to either Rimmel or Avon lipsticks, but I was pleased with how well this applied and stayed on throughout the day. Its a really good shade for either a toned down night time look or perfect for daywear whilst you’re at work/school/college or out for lunch/shopping with the girls. I forgot to take a picture of it on so look out for it on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram.

Eylure Volume 107 Lashes £5.35

EYELASHES

EYELASHES

I absolutely adore Eylure eyelashes already, it’s one of staple shopping essentials I pick up when I get paid, I usually only get the natural looking ones because I have THE worlds tiniest eyes but I’m so excited to try these out!  I’m going to save them for a night out so keep an eye out on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram for when I do use them 🙂 If you do ever want some lashes I would always recommend Eylure though, they stick the best, the glue is awesome.

Simple Kind To Skin+ Illuminating Radiance Cream £8.99 for 50ml

ooooh illuminating

ooooh illuminating

I’m always really wary of trying out new face creams because I have skin that’s really prone to breakouts, however I thought I would give this a go as it is a Simple Kind to Skin+ product. I’ve used it for a couple of days now and I have fell in love with it, whether you wear it on its own or under a light cover of make-up (face powder/bronzer) it gives you a really nice dewy glow and leaves your skin really soft. I’m thankful for the Superdrug team for including this as it isn’t one I would of ever picked up. to try.

Collection Bronze Glow Mosaic £2.99

Bronzer

Bronzer

If you looked in my make-up case you would see that I am quite a bronzer whore. My original favourite was the Glam Bronze Duo by L’Oreal but it soon got replaced by Hoola by Benefit Cosmetics (there have been many in between!) This bronzer by Collection is great as a back up bronzer, or maybe a bag bronzer if you’re prone to smashing them on nights out like me 🙂 It is a good bronzer just slightly too shimmery for me, I like to use my bronzer to contour cheekbones etc.

2True PRO 3D Candy Nail Art £3.00

3D Candy

3D Candy

Okay so I’m not going to lie but I have got no idea how I’m supposed to use this product, but it’s purple, and I do really like purple! I love doing my nails but I’ve never experimented with any 3D art, so if any of you have any tips for me to try this out. PLEASE COMMENT BELOW 🙂

(SAMPLE) Garnier Oil Beauty Lotion £4.99 for 250ml

I love Samples

I love Samples

I do love a good sample, and this was a great sample! I used this after I’d had a shower and there was just enough in the sachet to spread across everywhere. It made my skin super soft not only right away but also for the next couple of days too. It smells lush and the scent stayed with me as well until I had another shower. It dried in quickly and it wasn’t too greasy or anything, I LOVE this product and I’ll be going buying some next payday (the sneaky sample won me over!)

(SAMPLE) Ghost Fragrances Eclipse £33.00 for 50ml

Free Bag Perfume

Free Bag Perfume

My favourite thing about perfume samples is that you get enough spritzes in them to throw them in your going out bag as a top up whilst you’re on the town. I had already smelled this in store and I think it is a nice smell, I personally wouldn’t buy it as I prefer a sweeter perfume smell, but check it out for yourself because I know plenty of people who love Ghost’s new fragrance.

Overall I absolutely love my Glossybox and so glad I subscribed, I’ll keep you all posted on the Social Media what I get each month and my likes/loves/hates but I won’t bombard you with full reviews unless I just HAVE to share a certain one with you guys 🙂

Please remember that all views are that of my own, prices are if purchased from Superdrug. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, either comment or contact me wherever you like!

Short Hair Don’t Care

The Shark

OOPS!… She Went 2007 Britney

A Short Hair Story

So like most girls I dye my hair… A lot. I’m one of the worst kind of hair dyers, I get bored really easily which causes me to change my hair, TOO MUCH (if you know me you know exactly what I mean) so after a lot of dye/bleach/straighteners/curlers/extensions/more bleach my hair had had enough and I *pulled a Britney* and shaved it all off.

long hair short hair

I had always had pretty long hair, and when it got shorter I put extensions in it, so when it came to styling short hair I was at a total loss. That was until I found the Fudge Urban hair styling range, not only does it work unlike another product I’ve tried but they all smell delicious! So like any good marketing agent will tell you packaging/design is a major factor, and Urban Fudge have definitely got that down, I was so drawn to all the bright colours that I literally just HAD to try them!

Fudge Urban

Fudge Urban

You can check them out here: http://www.fudgeurban.com

I haven’t tried all of the products on offer but from what I have tried I cant fault them at all! My personal faves are the iced raspberry and vanilla styling mousse & hairspray; they’re both anti frizz, strong hold and smell oh so sweet! I especially love them combined because the mousse has heat protect too, meaning I can rub it into damp hair before drying meaning my hair is a lot easier to manage when styling. The finished product is usually an impressive quiff/bouffant that can resist even the strongest winds, hands down the best hairspray product I’ve ever found (also doesn’t make your hair look rock hard). I also LOVE the rocker wax, I used this religiously when my hair was at it shortest, the hold was so great I could play round with a variety of different styles.

If you have short hair, or are looking at getting short hair, don’t think that you’re stuck to one style; with the right products you can play around with it as much as you want! My short hair inspiration came mostly from P!NK and Miley Cyrus, slipping into a slightly Marilyn Monroe as it started growing out.

The only downside to short hair is having to wash it EVERY morning, because of having to use product to style it, the morning bed head is INCREDIBLE!

I’m In Love With Babe Walker

Babe Walker Is My Spirit Animal

Author of New York Times Bestseller: White Girl Problems and it’s follow up memoir: Psychos

She’s the type of girl that you instantly want to become best friends with, but at the same time, you’d run a mile if you ever met her due to being scared to death of her ‘tells it exactly as it is’ attitude. Especially if like me your wardrobe consists of common high street bargain buys (H&M, New Look, Miss Selfridge, Forever 21) Don’t get me wrong I LOVE these shops and these stores will feature a lot in my shopping hauls but for Babe, if its not designer, its so not chic!

Babe Walker

Babe Walker

I discovered ‘White Girl Problems’ after seeing Ashley Benson tweet about the sequel [ @AshBenzo ] ‘Psychos’. After finding the book on amazon I knew I couldn’t wait to read it after just reading the blurb; Seriously, check it out!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/White-Girl-Problems-Babe-Walker/dp/1401324541/ref=pd_sim_sbs_b_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1CVEYHDA3WNY6K70J81W

I’m not usually a fast reader but I was so hooked I read it in just 3 days (I’m usually more of a chapter here and there/ 2 months kind of reader) I just had to know what she was going to do next! and lets face it with chapter titles such as;

  • If I like him, he’s probably gay
  • My vagina is bullshit
  • I hate my horse
  • it’s 5:15. How much weight could I lose by 8:00?
  • I need a therapist to talk to about the problems I’m having with my therapist

How could you not want to just carry on reading until your eyes sting! After reading ‘White Girl Problems’ I immediately pre-ordered ‘Psychos’ (you lucky bitches won’t have to wait now though because it was released April 29!) and again I read the book in a matter of days.

Babes story begins after she finds herself in rehab after having a major meltdown in Barneys and spending a crazy (even by her standards) $246,893.50 in one shopping trip. She then reminisces about points/people in her life to see how she got where she is; Birthday Disasters, Her GBF and Losing her Virginity, Dads girlfriends, Labiaplasty, multiple college attempts, finding the perfect man with the perfect penis, Her mother, Rehab Her best friend/videographer/maid/mother figure Mabinty and of course Babette.

I’m not going to tell you about Babette because you just HAVE to meet her for yourself, honestly, she’s a peach!

I don’t want to go giving anything away because her stories are best heard coming from her. The way the books read, you fee like Babe is actually talking to you. I related to her in so many ways, we all know someone like Babette, we all wish we could shop away our problems, have hot chefs make us detox smoothies,  go out on to the clubs any night you liked and of course we’d all love to just runaway to a country of our choosing because we felt like it (or because we were being stalked… whatever)
